Home sales in Middle Tennessee virtually remained unchanged through the third quarter. There were 3,474 closings in September compared to 3,444 closings for the same period last year, which is a .8% increase. However, third quarter home sales decreased 1.2% from 11,046 in 2015 to 10,920 this year.
Year-to-date closings for the Greater Nashville area have increased 3.9%. There were 29,372 closings, compared with 28,252 closings reported through the third quarter of last year.
Median home prices during September reached $256,900, an 8.46% increase from the $236,866 for the same period last year.
Through the third quarter, the median sales price has been on an upward trend. Eight of the nine counties in the Middle Tennessee area saw an increase in home sales. However, inventory still remains an issue.
